Resümee

Die globale Erwärmung beeinträchtigt erheblich die Stabilität von Gletschern, wobei an der Oberfläche mehrerer Gletscher in der Antarktis Einbrüche aufgetreten sind. Aufgrund des Mangels an hochauflösenden digitalen Höhenmodellen (DEM) mit hoher räumlicher und zeitlicher Auflösung für die Antarktis sind derzeitige Untersuchungen zu raum-zeitlichen Änderungen der Oberfläche einzelner Gletscher unzureichend. Mit den Daten des Referenzhöhenmodells der Antarktis REMA von 11 Ausgaben im Zeitraum 2011–2016 wurde eine Überwachung der Höhenänderungen in der Einbruchzone des Dark-Gletschers in Ostantarktika durchgeführt. Zusätzlich wurden der Einbruchsprozess und seine Ursachen anhand optischer Bilder von Landsat 7/8 und Worldview-2 analysiert. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass der Dark-Gletscher im Jahr 2013 einen schweren Einbruch mit einer maximalen Einbruchtiefe von etwa 45,29 m erlitt, wodurch etwa 26,29×106 m3 Wasser verloren gingen; nach dem Einbruch stieg die Oberflächenhöhe in diesem Gebiet kontinuierlich an und erreichte 2016 wieder das Niveau vor dem Einbruch. Das Einbruchsgebiet weist ausgeprägte Merkmale einer ganzheitlichen Setzung und eine Ansammlung von Schmelzwasser auf, wobei vermutet wird, dass ein enger Zusammenhang zwischen dem Einbruch und dem Entwässerungsprozess des subglazialen Sees des Dark-Gletschers besteht. Diese Studie zeigt die erhebliche Instabilität des Dark-Gletschers auf und bestätigt die Machbarkeit der Überwachung von Gletschereinbrüchen mit REMA-Daten, wodurch eine technische Referenz für die zukünftige detaillierte Überwachung der Reaktion der antarktischen Eisschilde/Eisschelfe auf den Klimawandel bereitgestellt wird.
