This paper expounds the method tor invesigation ana analysis on urban residential living conditions by using of color infrared ae ial photos. Basic approaches are: （1） by means of direct and indirect interpretation keys to nterpret and probe into the information of material & spiritual living conditions of the res dents; （2） choosing convenience degree and comfort degree as the evaluation index （include eight evaluation factors） to make spatial analysis and quantitative

comprehensive assessment; and （3） to propose some suggestions about improving the above-named conditions.
