Hyperspectral sensing can provide richer information in earth observation

because of the technical characteristic of the combining image and spectrum. It has been applied to all aspects of the earth sciences

as a more advanced detection technology. Firstly

the author describes the imaging characteristics of hyperspectral imager

and then introduces engineering applications both in the aviation and aerospace. Finally

the author summarizes the latest development of hyperspectral imager according to the papers and research reports which published in major academic journals in domestic and foreign in recent years.
