海氷は海洋環境モニタリングの重点対象であり、光学リモートセンシングは海氷の精密なモニタリングに技術的支援を提供し、海氷の動的監視と定量的推定を実現できる。中国の海洋水色衛星コンステレーションである海洋一号C/D衛星(Haiyang-1C/D、以下HY-1C/D)は、海氷監視に適した沿岸域イメージャーCZI(Coastal Zone Imager)と水色水温スキャナーCOCTS(Chinese Ocean Color and Temperature Scanner)を搭載しており、海氷の業務的な監視応用能力を有している。本研究は2021年12月から2022年3月までの中国渤海遼東湾の海氷を研究対象とし、氷期のHY-1C/D衛星画像データを収集して海氷の識別と推定を行った。CZIおよびCOCTSデータの海氷識別性能を評価し、光学(可視光~近赤外)および熱赤外波長帯における海氷、海水、雲など代表的対象の画像特性を分析した。また、光学リモートセンシング画像における海氷識別が雲の干渉を受けやすい問題に対して、上記波長帯のリモートセンシング応答機理および画像特性の差異に基づいて、HY-1C/D衛星の海氷分布域に適用可能な雲マスク法を提案し、海氷を精確に抽出した。識別を基礎に、さらに海氷密集度という重要な物理パラメータについてHY-1C/D衛星データを用いた光学リモートセンシング推定性能を評価した。結果として、熱赤外波長帯を導入し、海氷と雲の輝度温度差を利用して雲をマスクすることで、グローバル閾値による海氷画素の抽出が可能になった。CZIおよびCOCTS画像における高精度な海氷抽出により、画素中の海氷と海水の混合度合いを効果的に反映した海氷密集度の推定が可能となり、海氷・海水画素の分解効果を達成し、海氷被覆面積の推定精度が向上した。総じて本研究の方法は、HY-1C/D衛星データにおける海氷識別抽出に高い精度と耐干渉性を有しており、中国製海洋光学衛星の海氷監視業務化応用の方法論的参考となりうる。
