Resumo

O aquecimento global afeta gravemente a estabilidade das geleiras, com colapsos ocorrendo na superfície de várias geleiras na Antártica. Devido à falta de modelos digitais de elevação (DEM) de alta resolução espacial e temporal para a superfície da Antártica, os estudos atuais sobre as variações espaço-temporais da superfície de uma única geleira são insuficientes. Utilizando dados do Modelo de Elevação de Referência da Antártica REMA de 11 períodos entre 2011 e 2016, foi realizado o monitoramento das mudanças de elevação na área de colapso da superfície da geleira Dark na Antártica Oriental, além da análise dos processos e causas do colapso com dados ópticos Landsat 7/8 e Worldview-2. Os resultados mostram que, em 2013, ocorreu um evento de colapso severo na geleira Dark, com profundidade máxima de aproximadamente 45,29 m, resultando na perda de cerca de 26,29×106 m3 de água; após o colapso, a elevação da superfície nesta área aumentou continuamente, recuperando-se até a elevação anterior ao colapso em 2016. A área de colapso apresenta características claras de subsidência geral e acúmulo de água de degelo, e supõe-se que haja uma relação estreita entre o colapso e o processo de drenagem do lago subglacial da geleira Dark. Este estudo comprova a grande instabilidade da geleira Dark e valida a viabilidade do monitoramento do colapso da superfície dos glaciares por meio dos dados REMA, oferecendo uma referência técnica para o monitoramento detalhado futuro da resposta da camada de gelo/ plataforma de gelo da Antártica às mudanças climáticas.
