it is one of significant ways to enhance the capabilities of planning

management and decision making for governments at different levels Recently

the statistical data at county level are only one data source to cover the whole country annually So

a Chinese Agricultural Statistical Geographic Information System（CAS/GIS）has been developed in the division The system consists of 5 subsystems which are datapreparetion

query and retrieval

data analysis（histogram

detection of changes

sorting

classification

evaluation

prediction

etc ）

statistical mapping

demonstration and map output Supported by CAS/GIS

an“Atlas of Chinese Agricultural Statusat the County Level”was produced in 20 days after the raw data in hands The atlas includes 45 thematic maps and corresponding 45 tables It is very useful to agricultural planning

management and decision making at country and province levels In this paper
