The image of the Hangzhou Bay acquired by CZI aboard HY-1D
The cover image shows a pseudo-color depiction of the Hangzhou Bay, acquired by the Coastal Zone Imager (CZI), aboard the HY-1D satellite. The image clearly illustrates the spatial distribution of core geographical elements, such as urban, vegetation, wetlands, bay, estuary and water bodies. The HY-1D and HY-1C satellites operate in a coordinated morning-afternoon network configuration, which enhances observation frequency and improves global coverage capability. The CZI features a spatial resolution of 50 meters, a swath width of 950 kilometers, and four spectral bands. It is primarily used for monitoring coastal zones and studying water color parameters in bays and estuaries, providing critical data support for resource surveys, environmental monitoring, disaster prevention and mitigation, among other applications.The data can be obtained free of charge from the website of NSOAS: http://www.nsoas.org.cn.
